Physical Features

Wallagoot Lake is a shallow (2 to 3 m deep) yet relatively expansive waterway. Bega, the nearest town of any size, is some 15 minutes drive to the northwest. The lake is open to commercial fishing.

Special Attributes

General

  • Popular for picnicking, water skiing, dinghy sailing, amateur fishing and swimming, especially along the northern shore where a picnic area and boating club facility are located.
  • Several kilometres of northern lake shoreline are directly accessible from Wallagoot Lake Road.
  • Much of the inland catchment of Wallagoot Lake is located within the Bournda National Park.
  • Bourdna National Park camping area is on the southern edge of the lake.
