Physical Features

The Wonboyn River enters Disaster Bay approximately 20 km due south of Eden. The river winds downstream from its waterfall tidal limit through steeply sided, wooded terrain. Wonboyn Lake forms a 1 km2 lobe attached to the river along its southern bank some 3.5 km upstream of the entrance. The village of Wonboyn is situated on the southern shore of the lake. The river is freely navigable to about 1 km downstream of the tidal limit, except over the difficult entrance bar which is covered by less than 0.5 m of water at low tide.
