Media Release - Department Water and Energy Date: 1 July 2008 WATER ALLOCATION REDUCTIONS ANNOUNCED FOR BROGO RIVER WATER USERS The Department of Water and Energy today announced reductions in water allocations for water users drawing from the Brogo Dam for the 2008-2009 water year. General security access licence holders will receive an initial entitlement of 40 per cent, while town water supplies and high security holders will receive 100 per cent. While the Brogo River catchment received useful rainfall over summer, inflows from the Brogo River reached a peak in early June. The substantial increase in the dam level, which has provided sufficient reserves for the initial allocations, will enable the water users to plan their activities over the coming year. The Department will continue to review water use and availability so that any further change to allocations can be made when possible. Full allocations have also been made for water users in the Wandella Creek and Kangaroo River water sharing plan areas. Additional information is available on the Department’s website at www.dwe.nsw.gov.au. Alternatively, licence holders can phone the Department’s Parramatta Office - Brian Graham on 9895 7617 for more information.
