Licences for major corporations and utilities

Delta Electricity

Delta Electricity is a state-owned corporation and operates four coal fired power stations. Two of these power stations are located in the Coxs River catchment at Mt Piper and Wallerawang, approximately 160 km west of Sydney near the township of Lithgow. The Water Management Licence issued to Delta Electricity authorises the taking and use of water from the Coxs River for power generation purposes. The Licence contains clauses relating to:

  • Dam flow releases from all storages, with a comprehensive environmental flow regime downstream of Lake Lyell;
  • Management of the water management works;
  • The inter-dam transfer of water;
  • Water use efficiency; and,
  • Monitoring and reporting mechanisms.
