Wetland Plants and Animals

There is more to wetlands than meets the eye! Wetlands are among the most productive systems in the world.

Wetlands are home to frogs, dragonflies, fish, snakes, mosquitoes, waterbirds and many other plants and animals which are all dependent on water at some stage in their lives.

Many Australian wetlands animals (e.g. Freckled Ducks) are found nowhere else in the world.

Wetlands are also home to many migratory bird species.

The following pages provide you with an opportunity to discover more about the amazing array of plants (flora) and animals (fauna) that may be found in the wetlands of NSW. Information is also provided on threatened species, aquatic weeds and feral animals.
